This project includes approximately 48,000 SY of milling, 10,000 tons of asphalt overlay including interlayer base, pavement patching, curb and gutter repairs, and related work on approximately 3.3 miles of existing streets. Specific project locations along with the kind and approximate quantity of materials to be used shall be as set forth in the Plans and Specifications. The Bidder is required to submit prices for all items in the Base Bid and Add Alternates. The contract shall be awarded based on the base bid amount. The City of Marshalltown reserves the right to not proceed with any Add Alternate items or proceed with any combination of Add Alternate items. Each bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security, as defined in Section 26.8 of the Iowa Code, made payable to Owner in an amount of five percent of Bidder’s maximum Bid price (determined by adding the base bid and all alternates) and in the form of a Bid bond issued by a surety meeting the requirements of the General Conditions or a certified check in an amount equal to five percent of the total amount of the bid, drawn on and certified payable by a solvent bank to the City Treasurer of the City. Such Bid bond will be issued in the form included in the Bidding Documents. Sales tax is not to be included in the bid. The City will provide tax exemption certificates and authorization letters to the Contractor and all identified subcontractors. Copies of the plans, specifications, and proposed contract documents may be obtained from HR Green, Inc. or examined at the office of the City Engineer or City Clerk.
