The Skeena Business Area is advertising a multi-year road and bridge construction contract located at the end of the Copper FSR (60.7km). The work includes 722m of road reconstruction, 668m of new construction and the installation of a 42.6m steel girder bridge. The road reconstruction section has been brushed out and will require some reconstruction consisting of ditching, re-establishing the road surface and pullout construction. The new construction starts from the end of the road reconstruction with 240m through immature timber (3-4m tall). The remaining 428m of new construction is through mature timber. The Ministry will provide the 42.6 m bridge, concrete bridge deck panels, concrete ballast walls, bridge bearing pads, piles, and culverts required for the Work. The Ministry will also supply a 21m or 27 m bridge for use as a temporary crossing. These materials are stored at the Ministry Forest Yard in Terrace, British Columbia, and will be made available to the Contractor for use on the Project. A crane will be supplied at the Ministry yard for loading the bridge components. The Contractor is responsible for transporting, unloading and handling all bridge materials at the site. Rip rap for bridge construction is anticipated to be sourced from the road construction activities or quarry sites. Rip Rap can be produced from a rock source located 50 m down chain, from the Br.1300 junction and the start of reconstruction. Surfacing aggregate can be generated from an established Rippable rock quarry 1.1 km up the Br.1300 if needed. Bidders are to include the cost of producing and hauling rip rap and surfacing aggregate from the identified quarry locations within the applicable bid line items.
