Project scope includes removal of the existing frontage road and entrance to the park, as well as widening for a right turn lane into the park from (AL-67) Beltline Rd and constructing a new right-in/right-out turnout to the park. The entrance to the animal shelter will also be reconfigured to enter and exit on the North side of the building. The entire project shall be completed in 90 calendar days. Bids must be submitted on complete original proposals made available by Morell Engineering. Contract Documents are available at the office of Morell Engineering, 711 East Hobbs Street, Athens, Alabama, with PDF copies available by email for free, and hard copies available upon payment of a non-refundable deposit. No Contract Documents will be distributed later than 24 hours prior to the scheduled opening of bids. Bidders must comply with Executive Order No. 11246, as amended, and certify non-segregation of employee facilities by race, color, creed, or national origin. A cashier’s check (drawn on an Alabama bank) or bid bond for 5% of the bid amount (maximum of $10,000.00) payable to the City of Athens must accompany each bid. A Performance Bond and a Payment Bond, each in the amount of 100 percent of the contract price, with a corporate surety approved by the owner, will be required. Contractors must be licensed as General Contractors in the State of Alabama. The owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids or to waive any informality in bidding.
