Renovation of a municipal facility in South Boston, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.

South Boston Town Hall Renovation Interior renovation to the existing South Boston Town Hall at 455 Ferry Street, South Boston, Virginia as described in the contract documents. Work will primarily consist of renovation of the first floor, with minor work on the second floor and exterior. Sealed bids are invited for the project. Bids will be received at 420 Main Street, South Boston, Virginia. Any late bids will be returned unopened. A bid bond is required if the bid exceeds $500,000. A performance bond and labor and material payment bond are required in the amount of 100% of the contract price if the bid exceeds $100,000. Electronic copies of bid documents may be obtained online by contacting the listed email or visiting the Town's website. Bidders are responsible for printing documents, or printed sets can be provided for a non-refundable fee plus shipping. No bid may be withdrawn for a period of 60 days after the opening of bids. The Town encourages participation from small, minority, and female-owned businesses and does not discriminate on any basis. The Town reserves the right to reject any and all bid proposals. Project consists of a renovation of the existing Town Hall for the Town of South Boston, built ca. 1910. The existing facility is two stories, with the first story being 5,865 SF and currently in use as offices for Town Hall. The second story is the same size and is currently unoccupied and used for storage. Renovations will primarily be focused on the first floor, with minor work to be done to the second floor in preparation of future expansion and on the exterior. The existing basement will be infilled, and a new concrete slab poured to replace the current structure under the finance department. The existing destination downtown space will have a raised floor built to match the elevation of the finance department floor. A new ramp and stairs will be built to accommodate interior floor level changes. All other raised floors will be removed. The existing ceilings will be removed, and either replaced with new ceilings or expose the original ceilings per the contract documents. A new wall layout will provide space for a Finance department, Administrative department, IT department, Planning department, and HR department. A new central conference room and copy room will be added. New accessible restrooms and accessory storage will be provided. A new elevator shaft will be constructed, but the elevator will not be installed at this time. The second floor will consist of cleaning and repair work, as well as the continuation of the elevator shaft and stubbing up plumbing for future restrooms.
