The work includes removal and disposal of Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs) from the former Alstadt & Langlas Baking Company located at 54 Lane Street, Waterloo, Iowa 50703. The building is slated for demolition. Due to the condition of the building, some portions of the building may require Regulated ACM demolition. Specifications for asbestos removal include both friable and nonfriable ACMs. All ACMs removed from the property must be disposed of at the Black Hawk County Landfill. All materials removed from the property shall be done in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. Sealed bids for the work consisting of asbestos abatement as stated above must be filed before 1:00 P.M. (City's clock) on Thursday, June 11, 2026, to City Hall, City Clerk's Office, 715 Mulberry Street, Waterloo, Iowa 50703. Sealed bids should be marked as "SEALED RFB FOR ASBESTOS ABATEMENT SERVICES - CONTRACT AB-2026-05-01P" and include the name of the company submitting the bid. Bidder must provide acknowledgement of addenda, if issued. It is the sole responsibility of the bidder to see that its proposal is delivered prior to the time for opening bids, along with the appropriate bid security, if required. Any proposal received after the scheduled time for the receiving of proposals will be returned to the bidder unopened and will not be considered. Bidder shall include verification of license to remove asbestos meeting the requirements of Iowa Code, Chapter 88B.
