The work consists of a design-build renovation to convert existing dormitory space into office space at the Eugene J. Towbin VA Healthcare Center campus. The project includes renovation of the VA Law Enforcement Training Center dormitory facilities, Buildings 190 and 191, to accommodate approximately 78 officers. The scope encompasses renovation of 78 individual rooms with associated restrooms, a full building HVAC upgrade, five dayrooms, hallways and common areas, four stairwells, replacement of all building windows and flooring, modernization of two elevators, renovation of four laundry rooms and public restrooms, replacement of water heaters and the legionella control system, and upgrades to building storm water drainage. Additional work includes fire protection and detection systems, energy management systems, lighting, security systems, roofing, and required civil, structural, exterior, and interior envelope improvements. The project also includes identification and correction of building deficiencies, inefficiencies, and safety hazards, along with incidental related work and an optional screened-in porch.
