Description

Site work for a water / sewer project in Okatie, South Carolina. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

The parcel known as Cherry Point Preserve, owned and maintained by Beaufort County, is bisected by an existing drainage ditch that conveys runoff to the Okatie River. To maintain County access from the staff entrance gate to the east portion of the property, a new crossing is proposed across the drainage ditch. The project involves installation of a 60-inch reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) to maintain uninterrupted flow within the ditch, and a gravel-stone surface crossing above the pipe for access. Minimal tree removal is expected to accommodate the stormwater crossing, and the culvert design avoids impacts to significant or specimen trees as much as possible. No utilities are included as the site is unoccupied. The drainage areas contributing to the ditch have been analyzed for the 100-year storm and combined and modeled to appropriately size the culvert for 103.42 cfs.
