SACOG is seeking qualified firms to provide technical assistance focused on accelerating the development and construction of the trail network. The project continues the Trail Technical Assistance Program, offering high-quality, engineering-focused technical assistance to trail implementers throughout the SACOG region. Assistance is available to any agency implementing or planning a trail project, as outlined in the Regional Trail Implementation Strategy, and will be tailored to the specific needs of each agency. Examples include grant application preparation, cost estimates, high-level design support, project ideation, developing a community engagement strategy, and planning concept development. Interested firms must demonstrate experience in implementation of trail infrastructure (planning, design, or construction); a strong understanding of the complexities of projects involving multiple regulatory agencies, tribes, railroad constraints, landowners, and jurisdictional boundaries; and demonstrated technical assistance skills such as grant writing, active transportation facility planning and design, and community engagement. Firms should show examples of work in disinvested communities and the impacts of implementation strategies or other technical assistance provided. The ideal team will demonstrate a multidisciplinary approach, broad knowledge in active transportation planning and implementation, understanding of trail planning and design challenges and opportunities, prioritization methodologies, and a strong background in technical assistance.
