Installation of new water main from The Iowa DOT is seeking competitive bids for the Installation of a new 6" water main and private water service from the existing City of Tama water system to the brine building located on the campus of the Iowa DOT Tama Maintenance Garage as per the Plans and Project Manual attached to the Buyers Attachments section of this RFB. Project includes an Add Alternate: Contractor to install a new 6" HDPE water line from a stub from the new Brine Building water service to the Maintenance garage as shown on the Plans. Scope of Work: Contract to install a new 6" diameter ductile iron water line from a City of Tama water line at the SW corner of Business Highway 30 and "L"Avenue that travels to the north under Highway 30 and along the west side of "L" Avenue to the Iowa DOT Maintenance Garage located at 3277 L Avenue, Tama, IA. 52339. Physical shut off valves and fire hydrants will be specified and supplied by the City of Tama and will be installed by the Contractor. The 6" ductile iron line will need to be bored to the north of the connection point under Business Highway 30. The remaining length of the 6" diameter ductile iron line may be excavated conventionally. A new private water service to the Iowa DOT Maintenance Campus will be extended from the 6" line to the brine building. This line will go under "L" Avenue as it enters the site from the west. New water meters will be purchased from the City of Tama and installed by the Contractor. Contractor will install a new interior shut off valve on this new water service at the brine building. The Plans will show the extension of the new water line, water meters and other accessories to the maintenance garage as an Add Alternate. All project materials and methods must meet City of Tama system requirements, as this work will likely be adopted into the City system.
