The work consists of the full renovation of the existing asphalt tennis and basketball courts, including installation of new fencing, in-ground sports equipment, access walkway, a masonry sports wall, and minor drainage improvements. Instructions to bidders include: Bidding procedures must follow M.G.L. Chapter 30 Section 39M. Sealed bids are to be submitted to the Office of the Town Manager/Purchasing Department at 730 Massachusetts Avenue, Town Hall Annex - Second Floor, Arlington, MA 02476, by the deadline. No bid will be accepted, corrected, modified, or withdrawn after the deadline. Massachusetts Prevailing Wages as determined by the Department of Labor Standards apply. All employees on the project must complete a construction safety and health course approved by OSHA, at least 10 hours in duration. The contractor will begin work only after execution of the contract, certification of appropriation by the Town Comptroller, approval by Town Counsel, and issuance of a Notice to Proceed. The project must reach Substantial Completion within 90 days, and Final Completion within 105 days, of the Notice to Proceed. Liquidated damages of $200 per calendar day will apply for delay beyond these deadlines. The estimated cost of construction for the project is $ 677,000.00 , including the base scope plus three alternates .
