The City of Dunsmuir is planning the development of a legal public access trail to Mossbrae Falls along the Upper Sacramento River. The project includes construction of an arch bridge spanning the river and a series of elevated boardwalk platforms anchored along the canyon hillside to safely guide visitors to the falls while avoiding active railroad tracks and private property. The trail will begin near Hedge Creek Falls and is designed to accommodate significant visitor traffic while improving public safety and environmental conditions. The estimated total project cost is $26 million, with the city pursuing federal grant funding and negotiating a long-term lease agreement with Union Pacific Railroad.
