Furnish and Installation of Pavement & Road Markings, Painting Services and Supplies. Question Submission Close Date 6/23/2026 12:00 AM CDT Scope of Work o The contractor shall use only workers experienced in installing and removing pavement markings. o The contractor and its employees shall abide by all safety rules of Texas A&M University. o Safety equipment and apparel shall be utilized as needed and shall meet all state and federal requirements. o The contractor shall conduct random drug testing and have policy regarding drug-free environment. o The contractor and its employees shall abide by all parking regulations and shall check with Transportation Services for parking permits (as necessary). o The contractor shall provide all necessary signage and safety devices while performing work. o The contractor shall furnish a supervisor at each site to oversee work performed at all times during regular hours of service and shall be available on call-back when services have not been performed as required without additional cost to the University. o All contractor supervisors must be able to speak fluent English for ease of communication. o Response to a call back shall be no longer than one (1) hour form time of notification. If contractor cannot respond in one (1) hour, or Texas A&M is required to contact another source, the charges for such services shall be deducted for failure to perform within the limits of this contract. o The contractor shall make inspections with a designated Texas A&M University representative upon request and furnish a written plan of action for correction of discrepancies. o Unsatisfactory work shall be corrected within 24 hours or amount of time agreed upon by both parties for corrections. o The contractor shall have a regular systematic inspection by the supervisor to maximize efficiency at all times. o Painting and thermoplastic application to road surfaces shall consist of furnishing and placing reflectorized paint or pavement markings (including lines, hashes, words, arrows, stop bars and emblems) of the color and type in accordance to specifications and to the dimensions at the locations shown on plans or as directed. Pavement Marking Material Specifications: o Paint shall conform to current MUTCD and TXDOT standards for specifications, size, thickness, reflectivity, etc., as applicable. o Glass beads for use on traffic line paint, except for graduation, shall be moisture resistant, clear colorless and clean or such character as to permit their upper surface to permit the refraction of light rays. o Glass beads spheres shall not have more than 30% irregularity in shape or fused spheroids per sampling. Construction Requirements: o Reflectorized paint shall be applied to clean, dry and dirt-free surfaces. The paint shall be applied at a minimum wet film thickness of 15 mils (16.5 gallons per mile of 4" line). o Glass beads shall be uniformly placed on the surface of the wet paint in the amount of not less than 6 pounds per gallon before paint application. The acceptable tolerance for 4" lines shall be +- 1/4 ". o If a no passing zone is to be established or revised, the university will designate this area at such time as the contractor begins work. o The trace of the paint shall have uniform edge lines by referencing the center or lane lines. Edge lines shall not be broken for driveways. o Line removal as specified on the plans conflicting pavement markings will be left in place. Removal of pavement markings by a means that will gouge the surface will not be permitted. However, a plane of the surface by commercial line removal equipment is considered a suitable method of marking removal. Equipment Specifications: o The contractor shall use paint application equipment having the following specifications at a minimum. o Self-propelled Automatic bead dispensing system o Electronic line skip measuring controls o Independent paint gun carriage adjustment. o Minimum of two color 15 gallon paint tanks o Adequate traffic safety warning devices on striping unit Thermoplastic Pavement Marking Material: o Thermoplastic markings shall conform to current MUTCD and TxDOT standards for specifications, size, thickness, reflectivity, etc. as applicable.
