The project is located on Adventureland Drive NW between 17th Avenue NW and 9th Avenue NW in Altoona, Iowa. The work includes clearing and grubbing, 265 cubic yards of onsite topsoil, 370 cubic yards of Class 10 excavation (contractor furnished), installation of 21,850 linear feet of 1.25" HDPE fiber conduit, installation of 8,180 linear feet of 2" HDPE fiber conduit, installation of 14 Type III handholes, 16 Type IV handholes, sidewalk installation and removal, traffic control, erosion control, and record drawing. Bidders are required to accompany their bids with bid security as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8 and to furnish a corporate surety bond for the faithful performance of the contract. The bid security must be in a form acceptable to the jurisdiction. No bid may be withdrawn for sixty calendar days after receipt of bids. Each successful bidder must furnish a corporate surety bond equal to 100% of the contract price, guaranteeing performance, payment of materials and labor, and maintenance of the improvement for four years after acceptance. The City of Altoona reserves the right to reject any or all bids, waive informalities, and award contracts in the best interest of the jurisdiction. Bidder questions should be submitted to the Engineer at least seven calendar days before the bid opening.
