The project involves the renovation of the Chaboya Division bus storage yard to support a mixed fleet of Battery Electric Buses (BEBs) and Fuel Cell Electric Buses (FCEBs). The first phase will include installation of BEB charging infrastructure with 55 overhead inverted pantograph type dispensers, installation of canopy structures for bus parking and dispensers with capability for future solar panel integration, and site modifications for new electrical service and distribution infrastructure. The design emphasizes minimal disruption to existing operations, with new infrastructure sited for optimal access and future adaptability for hydrogen fueling and solar energy. Construction is to be sequenced around ongoing bus operations to ensure operational continuity. Equipment will generally be placed along the yard perimeter to preserve central operations and minimize impact on bus circulation. Chargers will be installed on overhead gantry systems, and design will include provisions for future capacity upgrades, spare conduits, and manholes to facilitate later installation phases. Additional lighting may be added as needed. The scope also covers site surveys, geotechnical investigations, stakeholder engagement, cost planning, and risk mitigation. Future project phases include the preparation of final construction documents, bid/award support, and construction support services.
