Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Nestor Falls, Ontario. Completed plans call for the construction of a 1,585-square-foot recreation facility.
Work comprises the construction of the 1,585 m2 Triodetic dome steel structure and associated works within the site boundaries for the Mikinaak Community Youth Recreation and Cultural Centre. The building design is modeled in a culturally significant shape of a turtle, forming a complete dome which serves as the facility's entire outer shell. The recreation complex includes a double gymnasium on the main floor and a walking track and exercise spaces on the mezzanine level overlooking the gym below. Approximately 12,870 m2 of clearing and grubbing will be required for the construction of the access road, cultural centre building, parking lot, auxiliary structures, water supply, septic field, and related site works.
