Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Cumberland, Maryland. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.

Scope 1. Pre-Construction Activities Verify valve location and depth through utility records and field investigation. Coordinate water shutdown with facility personnel. Obtain required permits and utility clearances as needed. Prepare site-specific safety and traffic control plans. 2. Traffic Control and Site Protection Install traffic control devices, signage, barricades, cones, and detour routes as required. Maintain emergency vehicle access throughout the project. Protect adjacent utilities, roadways, sidewalks, landscaping, and structures. 3. Excavation and Exposure Saw-cut asphalt pavement surrounding valve location. Excavate roadway to expose existing 8-inch water main and valve assembly. Provide trench shoring, trench boxes, and dewatering as required. Remove the excavated materials in accordance with regulations. 4. Water Service Shutdown Isolate affected water main section. Drain piping as required. Coordinate outage duration with facility maintenance to minimize impact on facility operations. 5. Valve Removal and Replacement Remove existing 8-inch valve and associated hardware. Inspect adjacent piping for deterioration or damage. Furnish and install a new 8-inch gate valve or approved equivalent meeting AWWA standards. Install new mechanical joint fittings, restraints, gaskets, bolts, and accessories as required. Adjust valve box and operating nut to finished roadway elevation. Ensure proper valve orientation and operation. 6. Testing and Flushing Slowly refill water main and restore system pressure. Conduct leak testing of all joints and connections. Flush affected water main section. 7. Backfill and Roadway Restoration Backfill trench with approved compacted material. Restore stone base and roadway subbase. Install temporary asphalt patch if required. Install permanent asphalt pavement restoration matching existing roadway thickness and surface conditions. Adjust valve box cover flush with finished pavement grade.
