Demolition, site work and renovation of a medical facility in Cumberland, Maryland. Completed plans call for the demolition of a medical facility; for the renovation of a medical facility; and for site work for a medical facility.

Scope 1. Site Investigation and Preparation Verify existing stair dimensions, elevations, and connection points Identify underground utilities and structural considerations Establish construction barriers and safety controls Coordinate work to minimize disruption to loading dock operations 2. Demolition and Removal Demolish and remove the existing five-step concrete stair assembly Remove existing steel handrails, anchors, and associated hardware Remove concrete foundations as needed for installation of new stair supports Haul away and properly dispose of all demolition debris off site 3. Foundation Modifications Excavate as needed for new stair support footings Install reinforced concrete foundations or footings as needed to support the steel stair assembly Provide anchor bolts to structurally attach the stair stringers Restore surrounding pavement and grade disturbed areas Scope of Work: Loading Dock Stair Replacement Page 1 of 2 4. Fabrication and Installation of Steel Open-Grate Stairs Furnish and install the steel stair system Provide required components: Two steel stringers Five open-grate stair treads Structural support framing and bracing Stair treads shall be slip-resistant steel grating suitable for exterior loading dock environments Install all structural fasteners, anchors, and connections in accordance with manufacturer specifications 5. Handrails and Guardrails Furnish and install steel handrails on both sides of the stairway Provide intermediate rails where required by local, state, and federal code Ensure handrail height, spacing, and graspability meet OSHA and local code requirements Install kick plates or toe boards if required by loading dock safety standards 6. Corrosion Protection All structural steel, grating, fasteners, and railings shall have a corrosion-resistant finish suitable for exterior use Ensure all exposed steel surfaces are protected against corrosion 7. Testing and Inspection Verify the stair alignment and structural stability Inspect all welded and bolted connections Confirm code compliance and safe operation Conduct a final walkthrough with facility Maintenance staff 8. Cleanup and CloseoutRemove all construction debris and excess materials Restore the loading dock area to operational condition Provide warranty information and maintenance recommendations Please email all questions and/or bids to christopher.benson@maryland.gov.
