This project consists of a water main extension along Admiral Sheehy Drive. This project includes approximately 2,860 feet of 8 water main. The water main will create a looped system by adding water main around the south half the Chaplain Schmitt Island, supporting improved reliability and service. This project is a component of the 2024 Chaplain Schmitt Island Development Plan. The island’s water supply comes through one water main connection (12) along the E 16th St bridge. Water main does not circumnavigate the entire island. To ensure a sound, fully functioning system, a backup/redundant network of water main that circumnavigates the island is needed. It will allow water service to continue on the island while repairs or maintenance are completed at one section. The project is included in the City's 2027-2032 Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
