Supply one new dry bean research planter to be primarily used at the Elora and Woodstock Research Stations, suitable for planting a variety of dry bean market classes (navy, pinto, kidney, cranberry, and azuki beans). The planter must improve upon the current system in terms of seed distribution, accuracy of plot dimensions and seeding depth, operator safety, efficiency of trial setup and planting, and future digital data integration, such as GPS auto steer and GPS auto trip. The equipment must meet specific technical requirements: plant multiple dry and azuki bean market classes without damage; adjustable row width (36-61cm) with a harvest width not exceeding 1.25m per plot; ability to plant plot lengths from 1 to 6.5m; plot placement controlled by GPS auto trip; software for auto trip hardware control and production of digital plot map; driven by GPS auto steer if self-propelled; analog back up for plot tripping and row marking; fine adjustment of planting depth; compatibility with Case IH Farmall 120u (outfitted with Trimble GPS) or be self-propelled; equipped for conventional or no-till planting; and dimensions/weight suitable for safe travel and trailer transportation on Ontario roads. The successful bidder is to provide software, all necessary licenses, documentation (user manuals, maintenance, troubleshooting), professional services for integration, calibration, validation, and testing, on-site training, manufacturer's warranty for at least one year (with extended warranty pricing), and local maintenance and technical support.
