Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Burlington, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.
The Flood Mitigation Public Works Lot Expansion Project consists of site grading, storm sewer construction, detention basin improvements, aggregate base placement, and asphalt paving to expand the City's Public Works storage and operations area. Major work items include excavation and embankment associated with a new detention basin, installation of storm sewer and intake structures, construction of an outlet control structure with orifice plate, placement of aggregate and asphalt surfacing, erosion control measures, and restoration of disturbed areas. A certified check or bid bond in the amount of 5% of the total bid drawn on a solvent bank, made payable to the City Treasurer, shall be filed with each bid. This check or bond may be cashed and the proceeds retained by the City as liquidated damages if the bidder fails to execute a contract and file an approved bond for the faithful performance thereof within 5 days after the acceptance of the bid. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a payment and performance bond(s) in an amount equal to One Hundred Percent (100%) of the contract price; said bond(s) to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City Council, and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained, and shall guarantee the prompt payment for all materials and labor, and protect and save harmless the City from all claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the contractor. The contractor shall also provide a maintenance bond warranting all workmanship and materials for a period of 2 years from and after the acceptance of the work by the Burlington City Council. The maintenance bond may be provided in the form of a combination performance, payment and maintenance bond or in the form of a separate bond from the payment and performance bond(s) in an amount equal to the contract award. The late start date for this project shall be August 17, 2026, and shall be completed no later than 45 Working Days. The City reserves the right to waive technicalities and the right to reject any or all proposals or division thereof.
