Demolition, site work and paving for a bridge / tunnel in Richmond, Virginia. Completed plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel.
The project is for the replacement of the superstructure of the existing structurally deficient bridge carrying East Broad Street (US 250) over the CSX Transportation right-of-way (UPC No. 118541). Work includes the removal and replacement of the bridge superstructure, repair or replacement of sidewalks, curbing, pavement markings, signs, maintenance of traffic, erosion and sediment control, and lighting. The project area encompasses existing roadway and bridge infrastructure, located within current right-of-way. All improvements to the bridge will be completed above grade with minimal ground disturbance. The bridge is a simple span concrete-encased rolled steel beam bridge, originally constructed in 1909. The superstructure will be replaced with a 36’3” long precast box girder system, matching current roadway width and sidewalk dimensions. Portions of the existing abutments will be demolished and reconstructed to ensure the final roadway profile matches the current layout. Question Deadline 07/22/2026 at 5:00 PM ET
