The project consists of embankment and abutment repairs under the Washington Ave (West Valley Highway) bridge and the construction of a 300-foot earthen levee. Bridge repairs include concrete reinforcement with hand-placed riprap, quarry spall reinforcement to the lower abutment, and pumping concrete to fill the undermined abutment wall. Levee construction includes approximately 3 feet of fill with 3:1 slopes on either side, a paved asphalt cap on top of the levee, and paving of the corridor. Instructions to bidders: All bids must be properly marked and sealed, addressed to the City Clerk, and received by the specified time at the City Clerk's office. Only sealed bids will be accepted; no facsimiles or electronic submittals will be considered. Each bid must include a cashier's check, cash, or surety bond in the amount of 5% of the bid. Bids must comply with the plans and specifications on file with the City Engineer. The City of Kent reserves the right to reject any or all bids or waive informalities. Bidders must also submit a signed statement regarding previous work under Executive Order No. 11246. No bidder may withdraw a bid for sixty days after bid opening. The City of Kent will determine the most responsive and responsible bidder. The Engineer's estimated range for this project is approximately $575-675k.
