The work shall consist essentially of construction of an 11-foot wide asphalt walking trail, asphalt parking lot located on N. Bayou Avenue, rehabilitation of an existing railroad bridge, and installation of new overhead lighting. All other related items of work required to complete the project as shown and specified in the Contract Documents are included. The general outline of features does not limit the contractor's responsibility to perform all work and furnish all plant, labor, equipment, and materials required by the specifications and drawings referred to. Each bid must be accompanied by a cashier's check, certified check on a solvent bank, or a bidder's bond from a surety company authorized in Mississippi, in the amount of five percent (5%) of the total bid price, payable to the City of Shelby as bid security. Bidders may be required to submit a current financial statement if requested. The successful bidder must furnish a performance bond and payment bond, each for one hundred percent (100%) of the contract amount. The proposal and contract documents must be submitted in a sealed envelope and deposited with the Town Clerk before the designated hour and date. Work must comply with the "Mississippi State Highway Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, 2017," and all applicable amendments, special provisions, or addenda. Attention is directed to provisions regarding irregular proposals and rejection of bids.
