The Dublin Public Library is seeking proposals from qualified contractors to excavate and resolve a sink hole on the property at 114 Main Street, Dublin, NH. Sealed proposals for the Sinkhole Resolution RFP should be submitted in accordance with the provided specifications, terms, and conditions. Proposals must be submitted by the specified deadline. The Library reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to accept any proposal deemed to be in the best interest of the Library. Project Description: Phase 1 . On the upper-level grounds of the Library there is a sinkhole. Facing the Library, it is the front on the right side, about four (4) feet from the stone wall on the Rte. 101 side. The depression is about four (4) feet in diameter. The center has been filled several times with gravel, but it continues to sink. History claims that an old well is located there or in the vicinity. The area needs to be excavated to determine the reason, correct the issue, fill with material topped with loam and reseeded after completion of Phase 2. Note: Getting to the area is problematic. There are a light pole, steps, and railing in the vicinity. The entrance to the area is narrow. Traffic diversion on Rte. 101 may be necessary while heavy equipment is unloaded, operated, and/or removed. Phase 2 . A section of masonry wall NW of the sinkhole is collapsing. It is unknown whether the cause is subsidence from the sinkhole, drainage/hydrology, or other cause. That section of wall has to be excavated, with the current stones removed and preserved . A new footing, with drainage, is to be installed, and the wall engineered to function as a retaining wall, with new material up to the lawn grade and the original stone and caps used above grade. Adjacent perennials and shrubs may need to be removed and preserved and replanted after the wall construction is complete.
