Replacement of a culvert on Foster Road in Ashby, Massachusetts, including all associated work necessary for the culvert replacement. Contractor Qualification Highway Division Required for DCAMM contracts over $150,000, Highway Division contracts over $50,000. Culvert Replacement: Set up temporary signage and safety devices. Cut and remove trees and vegetation as needed. Systematically lower impounded water downstream in a manner to minimize downstream disturbance. Install temporary bypass and temporary coffer dams as needed. After lowering of water to normal levels a constant discharge will be maintained during construction. Demo and dispose of existing roadway, culvert, and headwalls as needed. Excavate and install one (1 ) 48" ADS pipe culverts (Town supplied) running from proposed location at westerly side of road to easterly side of road. Culvert pipe to have 12" embedment and interior of pipe to be filled with 12" of stream bed material. New culvert pipe to be wrapped and bedded in 3/4 crushed stone. Crushed stone to be covered in geotextile fabric. Supply and install compacted gravel backfill to 4" below asphalt grade. Supply and install one new precast headwall with wing walls for upstream end of culvert. Supply and install rip rap on geotextile fabric around discharge end of culvert to road grade. Pave roadway with 4" of asphalt in two lifts. Supply and install loam to disturbed areas as necessary and hand seed. Site visit recommended - culvert adjacent to 596 Foster R, Ashby, MA
