Site work and renovation of a bridge / tunnel in Galax, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a bridge / tunnel; and for site work for a bridge / tunnel.
Replacement of all wood decking, wooden side rails, and 12-foot wooden ramps on both descending ends of the swinging bridge. Work consists of removal of deteriorated wood and installation of new, exterior-grade lumber. Steel structure does not require repair. A 12ft ramp will need to be placed on each end. The length of the bridge is 95ft. The City is looking for the wood and handrails to be replaced. The steel cables will remain; they have passed a structural test.
