Site work and new construction of a municipal facility in Cordova, Alaska. Completed plans call for site work for a municipal facility; and for the construction of a municipal facility.
The Contractor will provide the necessary design (details, plans, material specifications, etc) to accomplish the construction of a bear resistant fence that will enclose the existing Municipal Solid Waste Cell (see attached conceptual fence layout). Access to the cell must be accomplished in a way that allows staff to safely open and close the gate(s) for standard size garbage trucks (minimum width of 20') to enter the cell without bears following in behind. Design should be done in such a way that allows for expansion of the fenced area as needed for future cells to be included within the fenced area (see attached conceptual fence layout). The fence will consist of approximately 2,600 linear feet of chain link fencing with two (2) vehicle entrance gates. The design of an electrification system needs to encompass one that can be operated year-round without access to a power grid. The 17 Mile Landfill is located off grid and does not have access to a standard power source. The Landfill does have a 23.5 KW generator that could be used as a backup power source to solar or other power sources during low-light winter months. The City would consider any other options that provide power during the winter months. The Contractor will provide a bear safety plan. The Contractor will provide a refueling and storage plan. The Owner expects the Contractor to use their expertise and ingenuity to develop a proposal with designs and materials to accomplish the Owner's Scope of Work. The City of Cordova reserves the right to reject any and all proposals, waive technical or legal deficiencies, accept any proposal that is in the best interest of the City, and negotiate the terms and conditions of any proposal leading to acceptance and final execution of a contract for services Questions regarding this proposal coordinated with Aaron Muma at refuse@cityofcordova.net or 907-424-5600.
