The Contractor shall analyze up to forty (40) water samples from thawing permafrost areas to generate datasets on iron stable isotopes. CRREL will collect the water samples during a field campaign and send to the contractor for analysis. The contractor shall perform sample reception, place samples in cold storage (>= -4 degrees C), conduct initial quality assessment upon receipt, and report any problems or confirm no issues. For each sample, the contractor will perform iron stable isotope analysis (56Fe and 57Fe isotopic fractionation) via plasma sourced multi-collector mass spectrometry (MC-ICP-MS), including all necessary sample preparation. Data processing must include raw data processing, rigorous quality control procedures, normalization to account for technical variations (if applicable), and identification/removal of low-quality data and re-analysis if necessary. The contractor shall deliver raw and processed data, provide instrument parameters, and supply methods for sample preparation and analysis for reporting purposes. Work is to be performed at the contractor's facility. Offerors should demonstrate technical capability to perform iron isotope analysis on water samples containing colloidal organic matter using MC-ICP-MS, describe relevant equipment and methods, qualifications of testing staff, and relevant experience. Offerors must confirm their ability to complete all analyses by the specified deadline, given timely submission of samples.
