Renovation of a laboratory facility in Greater Sudbury, Ontario. Completed plans call for the renovation of a laboratory facility.
This Request for Proposals (the RFP) is an invitation by Queen's University (Queen's) to prospective proponents to submit proposals for chiller drift remediation project - phase 1B (SNOLAB) as further described in Section A of the RFP Particulars (Appendix D) (the Deliverables). SNOLAB is an international research facility hosting several particle physics experiments. It is located at the 6,800 ft level (approx. 2Km underground) of the Vale Creighton Mine located near Sudbury, Ontario. The intent of the project is to implement temporary power to facilitate chiller drift remediation at the location. The scope represents a significantly sized construction contract for the supply of labour and materials to the site. The work will be performed underground, outside of the clean lab, in the adjacent mining drift that houses SNOLABs electrical and chilled water infrastructure. Anticipated date of substantial completion is December 2027.
