PROJECT DESCRIPTION: A. The project consists of select decommissioning and demolition (CAT Generator Electric Power Generation System , AST, Crane and all associated electric, piping, venting, concrete pillars and other items) located at Monroe County Community Hospital Plant, 430 East Henrietta Road, Rochester, NY, 14620. The Site is currently owned by Monroe County. The scope of work includes interior and exterior select demolition, removal and disposal of all related wastes, and all ancillary activities required to relocate, remove, recycle and dispose of the supporting elements of the three CAT Generator (Model SR4B) Electric Power Generation System, 20,000 gallon AST, Cooling Tower, and Fan Coil System. The major environmental scope of work items are listed below: Decommission, empty, purge, clean and recycle, one 20,000 gallon above ground storage tank and all associated piping, in accordance with NYS Fire Code Section 5704.2.14 and 6 NYCRR Part 613. The contractor shall remove and dispose of any steel sheet vaults, bottom slabs, piers shown or not shown at no addition cost to Owner. Existing piles if encountered shall be cut off and abandoned. Flush, clean and remove refrigerants, fuel oil , waste oil, distribution lines, lubricants and petroleum products from all tanks and equipment as specified. All wastes and wash water generated must be sampled and characterized for proper disposal, as specified. Includes motors, drive units, pumps, sumps, oil tanks and all associated piping and lines for both the AST and CAT Generator Electric Power Generation System. o o Generator Electric Power Generation System (three CAT generator units to be decommissioned and re-sold or recycled as scrap). Removal of electrical , control, ventilation, piping and conduits attached to the CAT (Model SR4B) Generator Electric Power Generation System. CAT Generator Electric Power Generation System components located on the roof of the structure shall be disconnected from the system and left in place and any openings/seams in the roof made water tight. All wiring associated with the CAT Generator Electric Power Generation System, Cooling Tower, Fan Coil System , Crane and AST shall be removed. Exposed electrical conduit above ground and within excavations shall be removed. Decommission and recycle crane. Removal of exterior Fan Coil System and Piping, concrete foundation slab to be cleaned of all debris and staining. Any structural bolts or forms to be ground flat and concrete slab to remain. Removal of exterior Cooling Tower and Piping, contract foundation slab to be cleaned of all debris and staining. Any structural bolts or forms to be ground flat and concrete slab to remain. All wall penetrations and garage door penetrations shall be patched and sealed to match adjacent wall or door conditions. Patches shall be tight to prevent future water infiltration. Patching material/system shall be submitted to the construction manager for approval . Decontaminate oil-stained areas of concrete floors and pads and pressure wash. Clean and decontaminate all floor drains, drain lines, connecting piping and pits of all debris, sludge, water, oil, etc. Collect treat sample and characterize prior to disposal. Pre-clean all non-fixed and fixed equipment, within the work area limits, and remove decontaminated equipment for salvage or disposalDrain, collect and recycle all refrigerants associated with the CAT Generator Electric Power Generation System, Cooling Tower, and Fan Coil System.
