The City of Terrace invites qualified Design-Build playground contractors to provide design services, supply playground equipment, safety surfacing, and complete installation of a new playground. The successful Proponent is required to specify a work schedule with a completion date to be no later than July 31st 2026. Demolition of the existing playground equipment and site grading/leveling will be completed by others. The project site is ready for installation. 2. Project Objectives The new playground shall: Provide a unique and visually appealing destination play experience. Encourage physical activity, imaginative play, exploration, and social interaction. Accommodate a broad range of users and abilities. Incorporate inclusive and accessible play opportunities . Utilize durable, commercial-grade materials suitable for year-round public use. Maximize play value within the available footprint. Minimize lifecycle maintenance costs. Meet all applicable playground safety and accessibility laws and regulations. 3. Scope of Services The successful proponent shall provide all labour, materials, equipment, transportation , supervision, and services necessary to complete the project. A. Design Services Review site information and approximate footprint dimensions provided by the City. Develop a complete playground design for the available site. Surfacing to be either Pour in Place Rubber (PIP) or Engineered Wood Fiber (EWF) or a combination with concrete bordering. Prepare concept plans, renderings, equipment layouts, and specifications. Ensure compliance with applicable safety and accessibility standards. Optimize the design to maximize play opportunities and user engagement The objective is to create a durable, innovative, inclusive, and engaging play environment that maximizes play value while minimizing long-term maintenance requirements.
