This would be for engineering and construction of a fuel island at the DPW Newville Rd location. This would allow us to buy fuel at a wholesale price and create better efficiency for fueling trucks onsite. These pumps would have diesel and unleaded fuel. This would provide a 12,000 gallon diesel above ground tank and a 12,000 gallon unleaded above ground tank. This fuel island would save the retail cost of purchasing fuel and position us better in an emergency event that would cause a power outage. We would still have access to fuel as the DPW building is on an emergency generator which will power the pumps. With the fuel cost savings minus the maintenance cost, this has a 3-year payback for the installation cost. This aligns with the Strategic Plan goal of Public Safety by enhancing the emergency management of the Public Works Department during a disaster event, providing fuel supply when public gas stations are not operable The project is included in the city 2027 - 2031 Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
