Wall School District # 51-5 is requesting proposals from qualified roofing contractors to provide construction services for a school facilities public improvement project consisting of the replacement of approximately 14,750 square feet of roofing located at the south end of Wall School , 401 S Blvd W, Wall , SD 57790, including removal of existing roofing materials and installation of new roof board , insulation, membrane roofing system, flashing, and related work, all as further described in the Request for Proposals and Proposal Instructions . This Project has been determined by the Board of Education , pursuant to SDCL 5-18A- 6, to be one for which the use of competitive sealed bids is not advantageous and will accordingly be procured through competitive sealed proposals pursuant to SDCL 5-18A- 6 and 5-18A-7. Remove the existing sheet metal cap flashing and membrane wall flashing ; cut and grid existing membrane into 5'x5' sections. 2. Install 1 layer of 1/4" high-density gypsum-fiber roof cover board, minimum 900 psi compressive strength, using screws and induction-weld or mechanical attachment plates appropriate for the proposed membrane system . Enhance perimeter fastening for improved wind resistance, up to 72 mph. 3. Install a white PVC- or TPO-coated sheet metal scupper box, hot stack, and pourable sealer pocket flashing, compatible with the proposed membrane system. 4. Install a white, mechanically-attached, reinforced thermoplastic roof membrane (80 mil minimum certified thickness) using an inductionwelded or other manufacturer-approved mechanical attachment method. New membrane shall be heat-welded to the existing membrane at the adjoining area using a method compatible with both the existing and proposed systems. 5. Install white membrane wall base, roof top equipment curb base, and corner flashing using the membrane manufacturer's standard bonding adhesive. 6. Install white membrane prefabricated or field-fabricated pipe vent boot flashing, compatible with the proposed membrane system. 7. Install fabricated 24-gauge steel Kynar prefinished sheet metal edge and counter flashing - match existing colors. 8. Option : Owner may elect a 5-year labor warranty and a 20-year nonprorated manufacturer's material warranty upon completion and receipt of final payment. Contractor shall separately price this option. 9. Counter-flash all existing curbs for rooftop units (RTUs). 10. Provide a linear-foot price for a roof walkway/traffic pad system compatible with the proposed membrane, materials and installation. 11. Contractor will provide thermal/infrared imaging of the roof area being replaced, prior to construction . If excessive moisture penetration is found , Contractor will provide Owner with a cost to replace the damaged or saturated insulation .
