Currently, a 4- inch private residential lateral is connected to a northern HDPE sewer main that is scheduled for abandonment. To ensure uninterrupted service, a new 6-inch public sewer lateral must be installed parallel to the existing main. This new lateral will be connected via core drilling to an existing manhole located approximately 18 feet south of the roadway centerline, at a depth of approximately nine feet. The contractor is responsible for installing, excavating and shoring the work area to install the new 6-inch lateral , three 6- inch sewer cleanouts, and all fittings required to reconnect the residential service and cap the abandoned 4-inch line. All work must comply with EMWD standards and OSHA trench safety regulations. Given the excavation depth and anticipated groundwater, the contractor must review the soils report and implement necessary dewatering measures, such as well points or sump pumps. The contractor shall restore all street conditions to an equal or improved state in accordance with EMWD and City of Winchester specifications. All work will be scheduled to minimize disruption to the property owner and ensure compliance with EMWD standards and specifications while maintaining long-term system reliability.
