Preliminary design and piloting of a PFAS treatment/mitigation process for groundwater and surface water. The purpose of this project is to conduct a pilot study to investigate treatment/mitigation options and to provide recommendations for design and construction of a PFAS treatment/mitigation system to reduce or remove PFAS in the surface water and ground water migrating from the Coakley Landfill Site. At a minimum, and as further described below, the study is expected to include: o Assessment of site characteristics, including but not limited to PFAS quantities and types and other properties that may impact treatability. Evaluation of treatment/mitigation alternatives, including lab-scale and field-scale testing, if deemed appropriate. Periodic meetings to provide updates on the project status. Recommendation of preferred treatment/mitigation alternatives with full cost projections for design, construction and operation and maintenance. o Presentation of the final study report and concept plan at a public meeting. The outcome of the pilot program will be to discuss the potential for a proposed long-term treatment/mitigation approach to be effective in treating and/or mitigating the groundwater and/or surface water leaving the Site, including the necessary considerations for a full design and construction in the future.
