Demolition, site work and renovation of a water / sewer project in Melbourne Beach, Florida. Completed plans call for the demolition of a water / sewer project; and for the renovation of a water / sewer project.
Removal and reconstruction of seawall, including all labor and materials. Bonds: 5% Bid Bond, 100% Performance Bond, 100% Payment Bond. PROJECT OVERVIEW & SCOPE The Owner is seeking formal, line-item bids from licensed, insured Florida Marine Contractors to remove an existing, failing bulkhead and construct a new vinyl sheet piling seawall system. The project encompasses a total of 54 Linear Feet (LF) in an L-shaped configuration directly bordering a concrete boat ramp on the micro-tidal, brackish waters of the Indian River Lagoon. The boat ramp will be completely closed to all traffic for the duration of this project, allowing full land-based equipment access directly on the ramp surface (subject to surface protection requirements). 2. SITE SPECIFICATIONS & CONFIGURATION Front Seawall Segment: 17 Linear Feet facing west into the Indian River Lagoon. Return Wall Segment: 37 Linear Feet running east, flanking the south side of the boat ramp, transitioning into a sloped retaining wall toward land grading. Exposed Wall Height: Approximately 4.0 feet from the lagoon mudline to the top of the concrete cap. Jurisdiction: Town of Melbourne Beach Building Department, FDEP Central District, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. 3. TECHNICAL & MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS Bidders must base their pricing on the following minimum structural standards: Sheet Piling: Heavy-gauge, UV-stabilized vinyl sheets (ShoreGuard SG-425 / SG-525 or engineered equivalent). Sheet Length & Penetration: Minimum 12-foot sheets providing an 8.0-foot embedment depth (2: 1 ratio) driven into load-bearing strata past the organic muck layer. Corner Assembly: Must utilize a specialized, pre-fabricated 90 -degree interlocking corner sheet. Concrete Top Cap: Poured-in-place, 3,000 PSI marine-grade concrete cap (minimum 18" wide by 12" deep) with epoxy-coated or fiberglass rebar reinforcement. Tie-Back System: Minimum 3/4 " diameter hot-dipped galvanized or Grade 316 stainless steel rods spaced every 6 feet on-center, connected to pre-cast concrete deadmen anchors. Return wall tie-backs must not interfere with or undermine the boat ramp sub-base. Drainage: Non-woven geotextile filter fabric applied to the landward face of the vinyl sheets; JetFilter maintainable weep hole filtration units installed every 10 LF. Environmental Controls: Contractor must supply, deploy, and maintain Type II weighted turbidity curtains around the entire marine work zone.
