Site work and new construction of a medical facility in College Station, Texas. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a medical facility; and for site work for a medical facility.

The Texas A&M University System Office of Facilities Planning & Construction, on behalf of the Board of Regents of The Texas A&M University System and Texas A&M University, is soliciting statements of qualifications for selection of an Architect/Engineer firm for the West Campus Vivarium at Texas A&M University project located in College Station, Texas in accordance with the terms, conditions, and requirements set forth in this Request for Qualifications. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time. The new West Campus Vivarium is projected to encompass approximately 68,890 gross square feet, featuring extensive cage wash areas, large and small capacity animal holding rooms, and versatile procedure rooms to accommodate a wide range of research activities. Research and administrative functions currently located in the Laboratory Animal Care Building (LARR) building will relocate to this new facility. As part of this project, the existing LARR building will be decommissioned, hazardous materials will be abated, and the facility will be demolished, once the users have vacated. This work will be considered a Priority 1 expense. The new West Campus Vivarium facility is programmed to meet both current and future research needs, ensuring compliance with federal agency requirements, including those from the USDA and NIH (PHS), as well as accreditation standards set by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC). This initiative follows the findings of the Vivarium Facilities Survey conducted by the Division of Research in September 2024, which highlighted the critical need for upgraded and expanded animal research spaces. The development of these facilities will support Texas A&M's commitment to advancing research excellence, fostering innovation, and maintaining the highest standards of animal care and welfare. This facility will be located off Agronomy Road, adjacent to the Office of the State Chemist building. The large buildable area on the site allows for future expansion for both the West Campus Vivarium and the Office of the State Chemist. The planning amount for the project is $135,000,000, which includes an Amount Available for Construction Contract (AACC) of $98,477,732. Fees, furnishings, other work, miscellaneous expenses, and contingencies make up the balance of the Planning Amount.
