Renovation of a military facility in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Completed plans call for the renovation of a military facility.

Relocate an existing interior lab to a new location within Building 1000 at PNYA. The new lab will be directly north of the existing lab space. The new lab will require architectural, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection systems (existing fire alarm and mass notification system modifications). Mechanical modifications include the replacement of VAV’s above the current lab and installation of a new HVAC system within the new lab. The cooling equipment must be placed on the roof because space on grade is unavailable. In total, this project will remove less than 19 square feet of original corrugated metal wall from Building 1000. Additionally, the proposed new mechanical piping installation location is adjacent to existing corrugated metal wall penetrations and not easily visible from the North or South sides of Building 1000 due to the placement of the piping behind the stair and elevator shaft. The Pennsylvania State Historic Preservation Officer was consulted on this project and concurred with the Navy’s determination of “no adverse effect”. The proposed action will generate hazardous waste by products including RCRA 8 metals and PCBs. All hazardous waste and Lead-based paint must be removed and disposed by a certified Lead abatement contractor. Questions are due by 4:00 PM on August 14.
