Renovation of a conference / convention center in Boston, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the renovation of a conference / convention center.
Questions or requests for information, clarification or interpretation of the bidding documents must be submitted to procurement@ massconvention.com in writing in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders and must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on August 18, 2026. This project includes providing all labor, materials and equipment necessary to provide comprehensive modernization of passenger/ service elevators EL-B3 and EL-B4, and freight elevator EL-B5 within the North Lobby of the Memino Convention & Exhibition Center (MCEC). Classified as a Level 1 Alteration under the Massachusetts Existing Building Code, the intervention replaces the building's original, obsolete 2004 Fujitec systems with non-proprietary, open-source technology to eliminate procurement risks and ensure long-term serviceability. The scope includes replacing geared traction machines with units featuring emergency secondary brakes, updating controllers to VVVF microprocessor drives, and installing robust car safeties and overspeed governors. Furnish and install a front-of-house access barrier to shield the work zone and restrict public access during construction, including thirdshift, non-dark-day operations. Each bid shall be submitted and will be considered in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders and other Contract Documents, and shall be accompanied by a bid deposit in the amount of 5% of the value of the bid. Sub-bids on this contract must be accompanied by a copy of a Certificate of Eligibility issued by DCAMM showing that the sub-bidder has been certified to participate in the public construction projects and to perform the work required.
