Pursuant to 70 ILCS 705/11k, The Fosterburg Fire Protection District is soliciting sealed competitive bids for construction of new entry stairs and ADA compliant ramp at Fosterburg Fire Protection District Station #2. GENERAL PROJECT DESCRIPTON : Location of the property: 4604 Seminary Road, Alton Illinois, 62002. The project consists of removing and disposing of the existing wooden stairs and ramp structure. Constructing a new porch, ramp, stairs, and landing pads at the Northeast building entrance. The ramp and stairs shall be constructed with pressure-treated wood for structure and railing. Slip resistant composite material shall be used for all decking. Landing pads should be concrete. The new porch will be installed to match the existing entry door height and have a minimum dimension of 60 inches by 60 inches. The porch shall be large enough to accommodate both stairs and ADA compliant ramp. The porch shall have a handrail on three sides. The top of handrail gripping surface shall be between 34 and 38 inches above the porch surface. The ends of the handrails shall be either rounded or returned smoothly to floor, wall, or post. The ramp shall be installed to match the new porch height with a maximum slope of 1:12 and a minimum clear width of 36 inches. The ramp shall be constructed to proceed East from the porch and include the appropriate number of switchbacks so that it ends within 35 feet of the entry door. Landings between switchbacks shall be at least 60 inches by 60 inches. Ramp sections shall run parallel to the existing parking area. The ramp shall have a handrail on both sides. The top of handrail gripping surface shall be between 34 and 38 inches above the ramp surface and be continuous. The ends of the handrails shall be either rounded or returned smoothly to floor, wall , or post. The ramp landing pad shall be at least 60 inches by 60 inches with a maximum slope of 1:48 and a slip-resistant broom finish. ADA access beyond the ramp and porch is not included as part of this project. The new stairs should be installed to match the new porch height and have a minimum clear width of 36 inches. The stairs shall be constructed on the North side of the porch and run parallel with the building. The stairs shall have a handrail on both sides. The top of handrail gripping surface shall be between 34 and 38 inches above the stair surface. The stair landing pad shall be at least 60 inches by 60 inches with a maximum slope of 1:48 and a slip-resistant broom finish . All wood materials shall be critical load rated pressure-treated lumber. Structural framing shall include a minimum of 2X6 joists and 2X8 rim joists.All composite materials shall be slip resistant.
