Site work, paving and renovation of a municipal facility in Apex, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility; for site work for a municipal facility; and for paving for a municipal facility.

The County is seeking the services of a qualified, licensed contractor to provide site improvements at the properties listed below: Marthas Chapel Collection Center 24 Gardner Rd, Apex, NC Cole Park Collection Center 11632 US 15/501 N, Chapel Hill, NC Late bids will not be accepted under any circumstance and will not be opened or reviewed . Street Address: Michele Peluso, Chatham County Finance 12 East Street, Pittsboro, NC 27312 (land delivery only) Marthas Chapel Collection Center: o Install two new concrete pads as shown on drawing. One will be 10' x 37' and one will be 10' x 47'. Saw cut the asphalt in the location the new concrete pads will be installed. The pads shall have a base layer of ABC type stone at least 8" thick, compacted. The concrete shall be 8" thick, 5000 psi with #5 rebar at 12" on center. Each pad shall be formed and poured so that it matches the grade of the new asphalt overlay. The 10' x 47' concrete pad shall have an electrical conduit formed into the pad in the general location shown in the drawings. The exact location will be field determined prior to installation of the conduit. See Electrical Notes below. The 10' x 47' concrete pad shall have two 8" steel bollards installed in the pad at the location shown in the drawings. These shall be 7' steel bollards installed at least 3' in the ground with approximately 48" above ground. The bollards shall be filled with the same concrete used for the pad and will be finished with yellow plastic bollard covers. Sawcut existing pavement between main electrical panel and the location of the electrical conduit stub-up in the concrete pad . Install electrical conduit between main electrical panel and new concrete pad . See Electrical Notes below for more information about the conduit. After electrical conduit is installed, perform full depth repair to repair the pavement that was cut. See full-depth pavement repair specifications below. Remove and dispose of existing concrete ramps and wooden railing in front of the oil shed and swap shop. o Cut existing asphalt in front of the oil shed and swap shop to install a concrete access ramp leading up to each shed, approximately 8" high (to match grade with the shed slab), 10' long and 14' wide. The concrete ramp shall be reinforced and a minimum of 4 thick and 4,000 psi . The ramp shall be formed and poured so the low end matches the grade of the existing asphalt. New ramps must be ADA compliant and may require a building permit. There will be no cost for the permit since it is for a County facility, but the contractor will be responsible for obtaining the permit, if needed, and scheduling inspections. It is not expected that a railing will be necessary, since they have not been required for similar ramps installed at other collection centers. Perform full-depth pavement repair at locations to be determined in the field to repair dips, breaks or holes in the existing pavement. The existing pavement specification was 8" compacted ABC base with 2" 1-2 pavement. Saw-cut and remove asphalt from full depth repair areas and prepare base layer of ABC to ensure at least 8" of compacted stone. Install 2" 1-2 or equivalent on prepared base layer. Full depth repair shall match grade with existing pavement. Prepare approximately 160 square yards of existing bare ground to be paved. The new paved area shall be excavated such that a base layer of 8" compacted ABC stone and a 2" layer of 1-2 pavement, or equivalent, can be installed and match grade with the existing pavement. Mill existing pavement at edges of all new and existing concrete pads and pavement to allow proper tie-in of new asphalt. Apply tar and gravel layer over entire asphalt area to limits shown prior to overlay. Overlay entire asphalt area to limits shown with 1.5" 9.5B overlay. This shall include the newly paved area. Where pavement overlay meets existing concrete slabs or ramps, the pavement overlay grade shall match the existing concrete grade. Any full-depth repairs done outside of overlay limits will not be overlaid. In the central island near the waste compactor, remove soil , fines and existing gravel to allow for installation of 4" of #57 washed stone over a geotextile layer, Mirafi 140N , or equivalent. Finish grade of stone shall match the grade of the overlay pavement. In areas shown on the drawing in the central island, remove existing material to allow installation of 4" of white marble stone over a geotextile layer, Mirafi 140N, or equivalent. Finish grade of stone shall match the grade of the overlay pavement. Install eight (8) Blue Junipers, one gallon size, around the perimeter of the white marble stone area. The geotextile should be cut where the plants are installed to allow the plants to be planted in the soil. Install metal edging around the perimeter of the central island , between the pavement and newly installed stone. Install a metal divider between the #57 stone and white marble stone. Grade soil between the edge of pavement and the fence to facilitate drainage off-site, as needed. Seed and straw any disturbed areas. o Maintain control of erosion and sediment to prevent sediment from leaving site. Remove from site and properly dispose of milled or removed asphalt, concrete, aggregate, soil or other construction generated debris. Electrical Notes: Contractor will be installing underground conduit from the main electrical panel to one of the new concrete pads where a new compactor will be installed . The conduit shall be appropriately sized to handle the wiring needed for a 10-horsepower electric motor. Contractor will make the connection into the electrical panel and run the appropriate wiring through the conduit, leaving at least 15 feet of additional wire for the compactor company to make the final electrical connection to their compactor. ADD ALTERNATE 1: Overlay the driveway, from the gate to the road using the same pavement overlay specifications as the rest of the center. ADD ALTERNATE 2: Install an additional 10' x 37' concrete pad as shown on the drawings and using the same specifications as the 10' x 37' concrete pad in the base bid . Cole Park Collection Center Install a new 10'x 47' concrete pad as shown on drawing. The pad shall have a base layer of ABC type stone at least 8" thick compacted. The concrete shall be 8" thick, 5000 psi with #5 rebar at 12" on center. Pad shall be formed and poured so that it matches the grade of the existing asphalt. The new concrete pad shall have an electrical conduit formed into the pad in the general location shown in the drawings. The exact location will be field determined prior to installing the conduit. The bollards shall be filled with the same concrete used for the pad and shall be finished with yellow plastic bollard covers. Install electrical conduit between main electrical panel and new concrete pad . See Electrical Notes below for more information about the conduit. While conduit trench is open and awaiting inspection, the Contractor shall provide adequate signage and site markings to direct traffic away from the trench. A lane (at least 12' wide) of metal bridging shall be installed to allow traffic to flow over the conduit trench until it can be properly filled and compacted . After the electrical conduit is installed and the trench is filled and compacted, perform full depth repair to repair the pavement that was cut. See full-depth pavement repair specifications below. Perform full-depth pavement repair at locations to be determined in the field to repair areas sawcut to install electrical conduit under the existing pavement. The existing pavement specification was 8" compacted ABC base with 2" 1-2 pavement. Prepare a base layer of ABC to ensure at least 8" of compacted stone. Install 2" 1-2 or equivalent on prepared base layer. Full depth repair shall match grade with existing pavement.
