Renovation of a clubhouse / community center in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Completed plans call for the renovation of a clubhouse / community center.

Replacing cracked pipes and a failing mixing valve system at the emergency shelter facility. This project encompasses replacement of deteriorated sanitary, sewer, and domestic water piping; installation of a new backflow preventer; removal and replacement of existing mixing valves; and replacement of related supports and materials, including pipe hangers and firestopping materials. Any demolition required to access the scope of work must be repaired and affected surfaces restored and painted upon completion of the plumbing work. Basement Sanitary Piping • Remove and replace deteriorated cast-iron sanitary piping and fittings within the basement mechanical room. • Install new no-hub cast-iron piping and fittings, replacing in kind and connecting to the existing system as required. Domestic Water Piping • Furnish and install a new 4-inch backflow preventer with check valve. • Replace existing 4-inch galvanized domestic water piping outside the basement mechanical room with new copper piping. • Install new dielectric fittings where new copper piping connects to existing galvanized piping serving the upper floors. • Replace existing domestic water piping within the basement mechanical room. • Eliminate the existing mixing valve located in the basement mechanical room. • Replace the existing first-floor mixing valve with a new Lawlor Model 805 mixing valve or approved equal. • Perform system testing upon completion to confirm proper operation of installed piping and valves. Sewer Piping: Remove and replace deteriorated cast-iron sewer/drain piping and fittings as identified within the project area. Replacement piping shall be Schedule 40 PVC where applicable and connected to existing systems as required. Work shall include required pipe hangers and supports, firestopping of penetrations, and leak testing to verify system integrity and proper operation. Interior Restoration: Any areas opened or otherwise disturbed to access the plumbing work must be restored upon completion. Repair wall or ceiling openings as necessary, prepare repaired surfaces to a paint-ready finish, and prime and paint patched areas to match the existing finish. Remove all associated debris and clean the work area upon completion. Any questions concerning these specifications must be submitted by email to bids@tgfymca.org no later than August 19, 2026. Responses that clarify or modify these specifications will be shared with all known prospective bidders.
