Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Boston, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the construction of a water / sewer project; water / sewer project; and sidewalk / parking lot.
Construction of two tide gates with piping and drainage structures to mitigate flooding, including excavation, disposal of materials, and site restoration with asphalt, fencing, and traffic markings. The City of Boston Transportation Department (BTD) seeks a qualified public works civil contractor to construct stormwater improvements at the active 200 Frontage Road towing impound lot to mitigate severe parking lot flooding during extreme high tide events. This procurement is conducted pursuant to M.G.L. c. 30, _ 39M. The work includes installing two precast tide gate chambers with flexible flap gates and check valves, core-drilled connections into major municipal outfall conduits, 24/7 continuous dewatering, and stamped soldier pile excavation support. Due to historical contamination, the project requires Licensed Site Professional (LSP) oversight for excavation, handling, and MassDEP-compliant off-site disposal of Group II-2 contaminated soil to a lined landfill, plus complete surface restoration with asphalt paving, fencing, and traffic markings. The BTD lot operates 24/7, and the Contractor must maintain a continuous 20-foot unblocked travel corridor for active tow truck traffic throughout construction.
