W911KB-27-9-A001 Develop and demonstrate a proof of concept for, and design and construct, an Emergency Water Conveyance Prototype (EWCP) to address the severe and escalating glacial lake outburst flood (GLOF) hazard affecting the Mendenhall Valley. The project will evaluate and implement an innovative water management solution intended to control water levels within Suicide Basin and reduce the risk of flooding to downstream communities. The EWCP is intended to prevent water levels from reaching elevations that could trigger a GLOF event and provide a safe and effective means of conveying water from the basin. The effort includes technical development, demonstration of the proposed concept, and design and construction activities necessary to implement the prototype solution.
