The City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ) is requesting proposals from qualified consultants to provide design services for Glacier Highway (Ross Way - Salmon Creek) Water Main Replacement project. The Consultant shall provide Bid-ready construction plans, specifications and engineers estimate. Additionally, the Consultant will provide a technical memo for pipe size selection and a two-season construction phasing plan. The existing ductile iron water main along Glacier Highway between Ross Way and the Salmon Creek Water Filtration Plant is aging, undersized, and not anticipated to meet future system flow requirements. The Consultant shall evaluate the existing water system and determine the appropriate pipe size needed to accommodate future demands. The Consultant shall then design a replacement water distribution main between Ross Way and the Salmon Creek Water Filtration Plant. The project shall also include the design of replacement waterline crossings beneath Egan Drive. Deteriorated segments of the wastewater collections system along Glacier Hwy will also be replaced under this project. The Utility reconstruction work is expected to be carried out over two summer construction seasons and needs to be completed prior to a State DOT road reconstruction project on this section of Glacier Hwy anticipated for the 2029 construction season. Consultant will assist CBJ obtaining any required permits and/or preparation of State Loans application documents, if requested. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
