Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Stony Brook, New York. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a 68,000-square-foot, five-story above grade laboratory facility; and for site work for a laboratory facility.
CR#: 2138136 The State University Construction Fund (SUCF) is seeking Statements of Qualifications (SOQs) from consultants to provide design and construction administration services for the Construct New BioTech Multidisciplinary Research Building project at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. The Project will construct a new, approximately 68,000 GSF, state-of-the-art BioTech Multidisciplinary Research Building, directly connected to the Medical and Research Translation (MART) Building, designed to expand biomedical research capacity and support healthcare innovation. The facility will consist of a new five-story, slab-on-grade research building with a mechanical penthouse supporting building infrastructure systems and will provide flexible laboratory environments and specialized infrastructure to support basic, translational, clinical, and computational research. Specialized research spaces will include open-concept biomedical laboratories, cell culture rooms, terminal rodent procedure rooms, environmental and cold rooms, heavy equipment bays, centralized fume hood alcoves, and glassware wash and autoclave facilities. Building infrastructure will include laboratory gas distribution, reverse-osmosis/deionized water systems, and high-efficiency laboratory exhaust systems. The building will support research programs in Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (AIM), advanced therapeutics and theranostics, healthy aging, neuroscience and pain research, and cardiovascular and kidney disease research. The facility will also provide faculty offices, researcher workspaces, conference rooms, and collaboration areas. The consultant will evaluate opportunities for geothermal energy integration as part of the design process.
