Westfield Gas + Electric is looking to contract for the replacement of gas mains within the City of Westfield under the federal PHMSA Grant Program - Phase II. The project consists of the replacement of up to approximately 33,680 linear feet of leak prone, cast iron or coated steel piping along with renewing up to 402 low pressure services within the following areas. Contractor will be responsible for the installation, abandonment, pressure testing, new meter set tie-ins to house lines, limited relocation of inside meters to outside service risers, erosion control, restoration and the coordination of traffic control for all specified work. All work within one area must be completed prior to moving on to the next area unless approved by Westfield Gas + Electric's project manager. It is the intention of Westfield Gas + Electric not to award a contract to any bidder who does not furnish evidence satisfactory to Westfield Gas + Electric that it has ability and experience in gas main and related service replacement and construction and that it employs trained and duly licensed drivers to perform the work to the satisfaction of Westfield Gas + Electric. All equipment operators must be OSHA certified and must have a valid Hoister's License and Commercial Driver's License. Westfield Gas + Electric will require proof of this. The contractor shall provide a Massachusetts master plumbing license to work under.
