Replacement of water and sewer lines, including associated excavation, site preparation, and disposal of construction trash and debris. Scope of work includes: The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, permits, and supervision necessary to locate, saw-cut, demo, excavate, replace failed under-slab waste/drain lines, backfill, compact, and pour back concrete for two distinct restroom areas within the facility, to include running new waste line to the exterior, and consulting PWC for a new tap to tie into. All work must be completed to local health, safety, and building codes. Remove existing plumbing fixtures and partitions from the men's and women's restrooms as needed. Remove carpet/flooring in the restrooms, office, and breakroom as needed. Remove any sections of the wall between the water closets and all rooms in the vicinity as needed. Contractor shall erect heavy-duty dust barriers (zippered plastic containment) and protect adjacent finishes, fixtures, and flooring. Demo the floor through the bathroom, into the hallway, and into office to the exterior, to replace the main sewer trunk line to include coordination which shall include contacting PWC providing a new sewer tap to connect to. Neatly saw-cut concrete floor slabs along straight lines outlining the trench footprint, ensuring no overcutting at corners. Break out and remove the concrete slab (minimum 4-inch thickness anticipated) and haul away off-site. Excavate sub-base soils carefully to expose the failed existing waste, vent, and drain lines, ensuring proper trench shoring and sloping/grade in accordance with OSHA standards. Remove all failed, cracked, or compromised cast iron or PVC piping under the slab within the designated repair zones. Any and all remaining piping that will not be used shall be properly abandoned/capped off to code. Install Schedule 40 PVC DWV (Drain, Waste, and Vent) piping and fittings conforming to ASTM D2665 / ASTM D1784. Main sanitary sewer lines shall be sized appropriately (minimum 3-inch or 4-inch diameter for mains, 2-inch for individual fixture branches or to best construction standards per code). Maintain a uniform minimum slope of 1 /4-inch per foot (or 1/8-inch per foot for pipes 4 inches and larger, per NC Plumbing Code). Lay pipe on a minimum 4-inch compacted bed of crushed stone (No. 57 or clean pea gravel) to provide uniform support. Rework water closets and existing sinks as needed. Conduct a mandatory water test or air test on all newly installed waste and vent piping in the presence of the Inspector and/or Owners (Cumberland County) prior to pouring concrete. Backfill the haunches and sides of the pipe carefully with approved granular material up to proper construction methods Backfill the remaining trench depth using approved select fill material, compacted to achieve a minimum standard to code to prevent future settling. All areas affected on the exterior shall be backfilled properly to be even with adjacent soil and to be seeded and/or sodded to conform with current landscaping. Install a minimum recommended vapor barrier over the compacted sub-base, lapped a minimum standards per code at seams and sealed around all pipe penetrations as needed. Pour a minimum to code standard of concrete mix reinforced with welded wire mesh or fiber-mesh additive as needed to match the existing structural slab thickness. Dowel or connect new concrete into existing surrounding slabs using rebar pins drilled and epoxied at intervals around the perimeter or other methods of standard construction requirements to code. Finish the concrete surface to match adjacent floors (smooth trowel , slip-resistant finish, or prepped for tile/VCT replacement). Rebuild/repair walls, and other affected areas, and trim as needed. Replace tile and other flooring material to match as closely as possible. Paint and reinstall the sinks, fixtures, and cabinets in all areas as needed. Perform full site cleanup upon completion. Include all permits and inspection fees. Install accessible cleanouts brought up to finished floor grade inside heavy-duty floor boxes with rated covers matching the surrounding floor finish. Ensure replacement tiles match existing finishes as closely as possible. Contractor is responsible for securing all required Cumberland County trade and building permits prior to commencing work. Thoroughly clean the work area, flush and test all restroom fixtures (toilets, urinals, lavatories, floor drains, mop sinks) for proper drainage, and remove all construction debris from county property. Contractor is responsible for verifying work at Prebid and ensuring no change orders arise. Contractor shall be responsible for any damage incurred during construction. All work must be completed by appropriately licensed contractors holding valid credentials, including an NC Plumbing Contractor License and/or a NC General Contractor License.
