This project involves the replacement of failed underground power cables in an existing six-inch duct. Several new concrete vaults will be added to reduce cable pulling distances. Several existing concrete vaults will be replaced due to asset condition concerns. New sectionalizing cabinets, transformers, or single-phase fuse switchgear will be installed atop the vaults. The six-inch duct will need to be excavated at select locations to be extended into new equipment vaults / enclosures. Replacement of the riser pole at each end of the underground is included in addition to installation of a new mid-span pole to facilitate relocating the singlephase takeoff to Adirondack Loj Rd. The work is summarized as follows: Remove existing 13.2 kV power cables (four, single conductor cables) from an existing direct buried 6" conduit, taking care not to damage conduit which is to be re-used for new cabling. (Existing cables should be put onto reels so they can be hauled away for recycling). Demolish and properly dispose of existing concrete equipment vaults, pad mounted sectionalizing cabinets, pad mounted single phase transformers, pad mounted live front fuse enclosures, as indicated on the bid drawings. Install new precast concrete vaults where so indicated in the bid drawings. Install new ground rods and wire loops around pad-mounted equipment per bid drawings. Intercept existing 6" conduit and extend into new equipment vaults. 6. Install new 1-4" PVC between the new 1204-SEC.1 and 1204-ENC.1 vaults. 7. Field verify that all conduits are ready to receive cable. Install new power cable. Refer to the bid drawings and cable pulling schedule for additional information, cable length and type. Install new pad mounted sectionalizing cabinets, pad mounted single phase transformers, pad mounted dead front fuse enclosures, as indicated on the bid drawings. Terminate and connect power cables at all new equipment locations. (Test all cables after termination record at time they were put into use for later reference). Replace the riser pole at each end of the underground segment. Install a new mid-span pole after the riser pole near Adirondack Loj Rd. Re-feed the single phase tap supplying Adirondack Loj Rd from this new pole. Arrange for police details and furnish signage, barriers , safety equipment, etc. Work around energized equipment in accordance with approved procedures. Only qualified personnel shall be used for work in proximity to energized equipment. Perform high voltage testing of the completed circuits in accordance with the specifications and furnish test reports to OWNER. 16. Tag all cables installed under this project in the required manner. 17. Clean up all trash and debris generated by the work. 18. Restore all landscaping disturbed by the work to satisfaction of OWNER. 19.
