Question Deadline 08/28/2026 Every request for such an interpretation shall be made in writing by a general bidder designated and addressed and forwarded to Douglas E. Ellis, City Engineer, 115 Baskin Drive, Chicopee, Massachusetts, 01020. No inquire received within ten days of the date fixed for opening of general bids will be given consideration. The work under this Contract consists of road reconstruction and related work on Champagne Avenue in the City of Chicopee. The major items of work in this project will include road excavation; grading and compacting; gravel base installation; drainage installation; HMA Superpave installation; HMA berm installation; and basic landscaping. The estimated quantities shown herein have been established for the purpose of obtaining unit bid prices for the various portions of work. The City reserves the right to increase or decrease these estimated quantities if it is in its best interest to do so. The amount of work authorized under the various bid items will be subject to the availability of funding. Limits of the work on the street(s) being improved shall be established by the Department of Public Works prior to construction. All work done under this Contract shall be in conformance with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation Standard Specifications for Highways and Bridges 2026 Edition; the current versions (2025-2026) of the Construction Standard Details; the latest edition of the MassDOT Traffic Management Plans and Detail Drawings; the 11th Edition of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices dated December 2023 and Massachusetts Amendments; the 1990 Standard Drawings for Signs and Supports; the 1968 Standard Drawings for Traffic Signals and Highway Lighting; the Plans, and these Special Provisions.
